1.You were Dessian Scotland’s first employee. What was your role then and how has it changed?

I was appointed as General Manager 1999, responsible for establishing Dessian Scotland as a major player in the manufacture and supply of REHAU windows and doors. Whilst we no longer fabricate onsite, we continue to successfully supply the commercial, new build, homeowner and trade markets.

2. How have you seen the business grow over the last 20 years?

I have witnessed Dessian Scotland grow from nothing into a flourishing business. It continues to grow year on year and occupies a significant place in the local window industry.

3. What is your favourite part of working in Dessian Scotland?

So many it’s hard to say. I really enjoy delivering a quality product and service and being part of something that we have all helped to develop over the past 20 years. We are like a family and that’s great to be part of.

4. What direction do you feel the business will go over the next 5 - 10 years?

Over the next 5 - 10 years I anticipate that we will be a strong partner to Cala Homes. We will also continue to grow our Windowmate trade counter presence as a trusted supplier of an excellent product.

5.Where did you work before you started here?

Cut me in half and I’ll shatter! I have been in the window industry since I was 17, starting off in my uncle’s factory. I then ran my own business, Fenestra, before working with Dessian.

6.Outside of Dessian Scotland, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Family is the most important thing for me. I even bring it to work as my wife Elaine works alongside me and our son Andrew has followed into the window retail sales market. My hobby and passion are playing the guitar and my ambition is to one day to play it well!

7.Can you describe yourself in 5 words?

Loyal, hardworking, funny, handsome, modest.

8.Do you hope to be with Dessian in another 20 years?

I’ll be 78 and sending postcards from sunnier climes.
